New casino bonus codes: when you need one and how to use it

$9,000 Median headline welcome offer at casinos founded 2024–2026

A bonus code is a short word you enter at sign-up or in the cashier to unlock an offer. Many welcome offers at new casinos apply when you tick a box; codes tend to unlock reloads, free spins and partner offers.

Where an offer needs a code, the casino shows it on its bonus page. Enter it before your first deposit, because many casinos cannot add an offer afterwards.

Short answer

Do you need a bonus code at a new casino?

Usually not. Open the casino's bonus page: if it names a code, type it into the sign-up form or the cashier before you deposit. The code only unlocks the offer; its wagering, maximum bet and cash-out cap still decide what it is worth.

Using a code

Four things that trip people up

General explanation

Where

The right field

Codes go into the sign-up form, the cashier or the promotions page, depending on the casino.

When

Before the deposit

Enter the code before you pay. A deposit made first usually counts as an ordinary deposit.

One

One offer at a time

Most casinos allow one active bonus. A new code can replace an offer you are still wagering.

Expiry

Codes expire

Codes run for a set period. An expired code is rejected, or credits nothing.

In depth

Types of bonus code

  • Welcome codes that unlock a match bonus or spins on the first deposit.
  • Reload codes for later deposits, often on set days.
  • Free spin codes tied to a new pokie release.
  • No deposit codes that credit spins or a small balance at sign-up.
  • Partner codes published by affiliate sites, sometimes with slightly different terms.

Terms behind a code

A code changes how you claim, not what the offer costs. Check the wagering, whether it applies to bonus or bonus plus deposit, the maximum bet, game weighting, the time limit and any cash-out cap.

A worked example: a NZ$50 bonus at 35x needs NZ$1,750 of bets, which cost about NZ$70 at 96% RTP. The expected value is about -NZ$20, so the code is only worth using if you would play that much anyway.

Practical tips

  • Copy and paste codes; they are usually case-sensitive.
  • Screenshot the offer and terms when you claim.
  • Contact support before playing if the bonus does not appear.
  • Use only codes from the casino or a site you trust; fake codes are common.

Questions

Bonus codes: questions

What is a bonus code?

A short word or string you enter to unlock a specific offer, at sign-up, in the cashier or on the promotions page.

When do I enter a bonus code?

Before you deposit, in the field the casino's bonus page names. A deposit made first usually counts without the offer.

Do bonus codes apply automatically?

No. If an offer needs a code, it is not added without it. Offers without a code usually need you to opt in.

Do bonus codes have wagering?

The offer behind the code does, unless the terms say it is a no wagering offer.

Do bonus codes expire?

Yes. Codes run for a set period, and the bonus they unlock has its own time limit as well.

Responsible gaming

Play only if you are 18+ and it stays fun

These rules apply on every page of this site. A young casino has less history to judge it by, so the limits matter more.

18+ only

Adults only, everywhere

You must be 18 or older, and older in some countries. A casino can ask for ID before your first withdrawal, and new casinos often do.

Limits

Set limits before the welcome offer

Bonus wagering keeps you playing longer. Set a deposit limit and a time limit in the account before you claim.
