How to play new roulette games: rules, payouts and house edge

New roulette games keep the European wheel but add multipliers, extra balls or bonus side bets. Most pay for the multipliers by lowering the base payout on straight-up bets.

Read the paytable of each variant before you bet. A straight-up win that pays 29:1 instead of 35:1 changes the game more than the graphics suggest.

The base every variant shares

European roulette has 37 pockets, numbers 1 to 36 plus a single zero, and a house edge of 2.7%. American roulette adds a double zero and has a house edge of 5.26%. Inside bets (straight-ups, splits, streets, corners, lines) pay more and hit less; outside bets (red or black, odd or even, high or low, dozens, columns) pay less and hit more.

Live tables follow a set rhythm: the dealer opens betting, warns that time is nearly up, then closes betting before the ball settles.

Lightning Roulette

Evolution's Lightning Roulette, launched in 2018, picks between one and five lucky numbers each round and gives them multipliers from 50x to 500x. A straight-up bet on a struck number pays the multiplier. To fund this, straight-up wins on other numbers pay 29:1 instead of 35:1. Outside bets keep their normal payouts and never get a multiplier.

Quantum Roulette

Playtech's Quantum Roulette works the same way: random numbers get multipliers of up to 500x, and other straight-up wins pay less than 35:1. Boost events can raise multipliers further. Check the paytable at the table, as payouts differ between versions.

Double Ball Roulette

Evolution's Double Ball Roulette launches two balls on a single-zero wheel. Inside bets win if either ball lands on your number, at reduced payouts. Outside bets need both balls to meet the condition and pay more to compensate. Special bets pay out if both balls land in the same pocket, with the top payout for a chosen number hit twice.

Step by step at a live table

  1. Choose a chip value within the table limits.
  2. Read the variant's paytable and special bets.
  3. Place your main bets before the timer runs out.
  4. Add side bets only within a small, fixed share of your stake.
  5. Watch the result and check the payout in your history.
  6. Stop when you reach your session limit.

Bankroll tips

Flat betting, the same stake each round, keeps results easier to track. Multiplier variants are more volatile: you lose more straight-up bets at reduced payouts and wait for rare big hits. Keep side bets and multiplier chasing to a small, separate budget.

Questions

New roulette games: questions

Do multipliers change the standard 35:1 payout?

Yes. In Lightning and Quantum Roulette, straight-up wins on numbers without a multiplier pay less than 35:1, usually 29:1. Check the paytable.

Can I win multipliers on outside bets?

No. In Lightning Roulette, multipliers apply only to straight-up bets. Outside bets pay their normal odds.

Which roulette has the lowest house edge?

Single-zero European roulette at 2.7%. Some tables with la partage or en prison rules lower it further on even-money bets.

Are the multipliers random?

Yes, an RNG picks them. Licensed studios have their games tested, but random does not mean the multipliers make up for the lower base payout.

Can I play new roulette games for free?

RNG versions often have demo modes. Live dealer tables usually need a funded account.

Play only if you are 18+ and it stays fun

These rules apply on every page of this site. A young casino has less history to judge it by, so the limits matter more.

Adults only, everywhere

You must be 18 or older, and older in some countries. A casino can ask for ID before your first withdrawal, and new casinos often do.
